Since the birth of goth back in the 80's there have been many many gothic bands what started with a handfull of select bands has now spread its claw like fingers world wide.. Goth started it's humble life in the realms of the British punk movement it found a home briefly in bands like Siousxie And The Banchees and The Damned but like a vampire stalking the streets for blood it soon left and became it's own creation. Then camethe true goth bands like Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy, Specimen and many others, however it was not satisfied in it's lust to spread and then came a glimmer of hope for it a label known as 4ad this became it's second home in bands like Dead Can Dance, Wolfgang Press, The Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil. These bands experimented with music and gave it a new lease of life and ever since then goth has thrived and mutated from one form to another and continues to grow to this day, it has got to the stage where there are so many forms of goth it is hard to keep track on it but one thing is sure it will always be there somewhere in our music and imagry.
